Louis Josephson Named CEO of Bay Cove Human Services
Bay Cove Human Services announced today that Louis Josephson, LICSW, Ph.D has been hired as the agency’s new President and CEO, effective June 6, 2022. Dr. Josephson will be succeeding Bill Sprague, who is retiring after 10 years as Bay Cove’s President and CEO, capping off an illustrious 30-year career with the organization.
Dr. Josephson has more than three decades of professional experience leading mental health and human services organizations, and comes to Bay Cove from The Brattleboro Retreat, Vermont’s largest regional free-standing psychiatric health system, where he served as CEO.
“I am delighted to announce the selection of Louis Josephson as Bay Cove Human Services' new President and CEO,” said Ruth Fishbein, Chair of Bay Cove’s Board of Directors. “The board conducted an extensive search, and we are so pleased that a person with Louis' vision, experience and commitment will be joining us to lead Bay Cove into the future. Louis brings a wealth of leadership, management, and clinical experience, and an extensive track record of success in senior positions at human services organizations and government agencies. Just as importantly, Louis has a deep commitment to both the mission of Bay Cove, and to placing the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion at the center of everything our organization does.”
“I am grateful to the Board of Bay Cove for providing me with the opportunity to lead such an outstanding organization,” said Dr. Josephson. “Bill Sprague’s leadership has Bay Cove well-positioned for the future, and I look forward to building on the great work done by Bill and his team. We all know that our communities need excellent mental health services, developmental services, and substance use disorder treatment options more than ever. It is Bay Cove’s commitment to serving people with the greatest challenges, and the tremendous dedication of Bay Cove’s staff, that makes me so excited to lead such an essential community-based organization.”
"It has been a great privilege to serve as President & CEO of Bay Cove Human Services, to work alongside so many talented and dedicated people for the last 30 years, and to be part of the tremendous growth and accomplishments that have led Bay Cove to where we are today,” said Bill Sprague. “I want to thank all the members of the extended Bay Cove Community—staff, individuals we serve, Board members, loyal donors and partner organizations--whose hard work, tireless spirit and generous support have allowed us to achieve so much. Our goal at Bay Cove has never been to be the biggest, it has always been to be the best—but the great work that we all do has helped us grow to be one of the biggest and most diverse human service agencies in the Commonwealth. I am confident that under Louis Josephson’s leadership, Bay Cove will continue to succeed and grow, and will continue to offer the highest quality compassionate services to those with the greatest challenges.”
