Legislative Luncheon
Together We Work, Together We Win: A day of advocacy and raising our collective voices.
The Bay Cove Legislative Luncheon was held on October 25, 2023, at the Massachusetts Statehouse Nurses Hall. The event theme was Together We Work – Together We Win.
Thank you to our staff, those we serve, Peer Advocates, Board members, supporters, State Senators, Representatives, and their aides who showed up in numbers far exceeding the 100-person capacity of the Nurses Hall with standing room only. Our audience spilled over to the adjacent spaces outside of the event area.
During our social hour, the Center Club provided a wonderful meal and beverages that contributed to a casual atmosphere conducive for meet and greet networking opportunities. During the formal program segment attendees had an opportunity to hear from Louis Josephson, our President and CEO, who provided an overview of Bay Cove’s comprehensive services, as well as our vision to innovatively improve how we deliver services and to influence service excellence in our sector.
We thank Representative Daniel Cahill for sponsoring the Nurses Hall for us to hold the event. Representative Russell Holmes addressed the audience and impressed upon everyone the importance of connecting with our individual Representatives and Senators to voice what is important to us as constituents. Representative Holmes spoke words of value for the important jobs our workforce does each and every day. We sincerely appreciate Representative Holmes’ partnership with Bay Cove and support for the human services sector in the Commonwealth.
A special thanks to our four Bay Cove presenters who, through sharing their personal stories, provided powerful examples of how our services change lives and the workforce challenges making staff recruitment and retention an ongoing struggle to sustain service delivery.
To our presenters, Danielle Lopez, Ishmael Shaheed, Recardo Perez and Caitriona O’Grady, your presentations were the true highlights of the luncheon.
The Statehouse staff who attended continue to praise the event and were left with a high appreciation for the work our staff do on behalf of those who we support across the Commonwealth districts.
The Bay Cove planning committee that worked so creatively to ensure that the legislative luncheon was successful will be meeting to debrief and discuss next steps in growing our government and community capital.
